method of processing black tea, in which leaves are passed through many cylindrical rollers, with sharp teeth that crush, tear & curl the tea, into tiny pellets, is called crush, tear & curl. Sometimes, this process is also referred to as cut, tear & curl. This method differs from the standard method in which tea leaves are rolled into strips. Tea thus produced is called CTC tea or Mamri chai. When brewed, CTC teas often produce a rich red- brown color. It's very popular in India. Today most black teas are produced by CTC method.
